Berenice Llorens

Berenice Llorens is a multidisciplinary artist, composer and DJ from Córdoba, Argentina. Through her work, she develops an artistic research on musical composition and the transformations of the creative process according to the temporal, visual and auditory perception of the environment we inhabit. Based on deep listening and nature, she develops sound experimentation and free improvisation techniques to compose freely, intuitively and outside of genre labels. She develops and dialogues with various artistic expressions such as drawing, poetry and video art. In her solo project, she ventures into experimental electronic music and mixes analog and digital techniques and instruments, processes, voices and field recordings. Her work covers formats such as performances, DJ sets, electronic music, sound works and improvisations that oscillate between minimal, techno, break, experimental and ambient. Within the academic context she studied Piano, Musical Composition (UNC) and Graphic Design. She also conducts courses, seminars and masterclasses in the field of Audio Programming and Postproduction. In 2020 she edited Kriptonîa Split vol. XVI - Aikida // Berenice Llorens with the Argentine label Kriptonîa. She participated in festivals like Earth Days Arts Model, Now Net Arts and her music has resonated in Berlin, England and Switzerland.
In 2021 she received support from the National Endowment for the Arts program in her collaborative experimental project Marmotas Dreams. She was selected by the National Institute of Argentine Music INAMU through the open call for sound experimenters. She currently participates in Artlab Artistic Residencies in collaboration with the British Council's Amplify D.A.I program, working together with Brazilian visual artist Carol Santana. This work will be presented in the 2022 edition of Mutek AR.
