Somnia is an interdisciplinary audiovisual dance performance created by Mexican contemporary dancer and choreographer Alejandra Metztli and Dutch immersive digital artist Jaco Schilp.
Somnia explores the poetic processes within the human body and the dream states we experience during sleep. The performance addresses the language of movement, which does not operate in linear terms but unfolds multidimensionally in an energetic body that interprets a timeless reality. The piece is inspired by the chemical substances secreted by the human brain, neuronal frequencies, and the subtle body that connects with the narratives we experience while dreaming.
The sound design was created in collaboration with Ben Spaander (aka Cosmic Force), Noah Zurhaa. In direction and production by Alejandra Metztli.
