MUTEK presents Amantra, a classically trained violinist, she has developed as one of the most exciting acts hailing from Latin America. Born in Venezuela and based in Barcelona, started DJing at 17, and has already graced the dancefloors of all the clubs of the city: Nitsa, Human, Moog and festivals such us Baum Festival (Bogotá), Videoclub (Bogotá), Inmersion (Medellin), Stereo Picnic (Bogotá).
Her DJing style is heterogeneous, hard-hitting, complex and technical. Blending polyrythmic tracks across different genres: Techno, Speed Dembow, UK Beaks, travelling at light speed across a wide range of BPMs. In 2022 she was invited by the cult label Tratratrax for a DJ appearance at Boiler Room Medellin. Amantra is currently a resident at LATINEO, a series of parties dedicated to provide visibility to Latin and Queer artists in Barcelona.
Her production style is pulsatile, powerful, and enthralling. Deep in connections to her origins and broad in the way is crafted, from ambient and drone to fast, syncopated club music. Every element punctuated by a Leftfield gaze, with percussion always center. Her latest success, “Milkshake” released in Jensen Interceptor’s International Chrome, is slaying dancefloors all across Europe, already supported by Patrick Mason, SPFDJ, Sedef Adasi and Nene H. Amantra has an upcoming EP on International Chrome scheduled for 2024.
