Music is embedded in Zaya Solange’s DNA and her background is as unique as her style. The New York native’s talents grew in Montreal from Haitian roots. Her maternal family’s contributions to Montreal’s culture run deep. It includes Le Perchoir d’Haiti, a cafe that became a hub for artists and their performances in the 60s, as well as Tam Tams on Mont-Royal, an ongoing weekly tradition that was initiated by her great-uncle’s band during the same era. Zaya strives to carry on this legacywith her own flair.
You may recognize Zaya Solange’s name from her appearances on season 5 of the popular Quebec television series, La Voix. She also sharpened her chops while performing with Static Gold as the lead singer. While these experiences bolstered Zaya’s musicality, she seeks to move into more personal and meaningful territory with her forthcoming solo releases.
