Bárbara Perea is a contemporary art curator specializing in the art-technology relationship. She was coordinator of the Museo Universitario de Ciencias y Artes (MUCA) in Rome, co-artistic director of Plataforma, Puebla 2006, and co-curator of the Mexican pavilion at the 52nd Venice Biennale with a solo exhibition by Rafael Lozano-Hemmer. She was part of the curatorial team of Transitio Mx_04, an international festival of electronic and video arts, of the Texas Biennial 13, and has curated more than 40 exhibitions in Mexico, Italy, Austria, Canada, and the United States.

In 2019, she curated the Speculative Interfaces festival for Impakt in Utrecht, the Netherlands, and was awarded the Jane Farver Memorial Grant Award to carry out a curatorial residency and exhibition at the International Studio and Curatorial Program (ISCP) in New York. She has been a digital culture advisor for Fundación Telefónica Movistar México since 2016.
