MUTEK.JP+MX join forces for a hybrid festival edition
MUTEK.JP and MUTEK.MX are joining forces for a joint hybrid edition taking place December 9th to 13th with physical activities taking place in both Tokyo and Mexico City connected through MUTEK’s virtual festival platform.
Following the lead of MUTEK Montréal’s hybrid 21st Edition past September the idea to align the two festival editions developed out of the highly successful MUTEK Connect program. For the first time the Connect program saw a joint effort of the MUTEK network, as well as third partners converging virtually to expand the festival activities and connecting local communities around the world. With this effort in mind joining the two festival editions, which usually are just weeks apart, manifested itself to be the next logical step in curbing the effects of the ongoing pandemic on global cultural activities.
MUTEK.MX will return for it’s hybrid 17th Edition for a series of exhibitions and hybrid performances in and around Mexico City, while MUTEK.JP continues its presence in central Shibuya for 3-days of performances at Stream Hall for the festivities of its 5th anniversary. From December 9th to 13th the joint edition will be broadcasted on MUTEK’s virtual festival platform, which will further act as the convergence point of the two festival editions and efforts by the remaining MUTEK network and associated partners and friends!
