Steven Sych & Timothy Thomasson

Steven Sych is a digital artist and academic currently based in Tiohtià:ke/Montréal. His work places the techno-quotidian realities of 2021 into surprising contexts and configurations while aiming to open novel pathways for meaningful approaches of the role of the digital world in our everyday lives. He holds a BA (Honors) in Philosophy from the University of Alberta, a Master’s in Design from Concordia University and a PhD in Philosophy from McGill University. Currently, he is a faculty member at John Abbott college where he has taught documentary film, science fiction, game design and sexual ethics.
Timothy Thomasson is a digital artist based in Tiohtià:ke/Montréal. His work questions the ways moving images are produced and consumed within historic and contemporary contexts. He works primarily with computer animation while utilizing real-time technologies in his works to create continually generative environments. He holds a BFA and a Master’s in Design and Computation Arts from Concordia University. Thomasson’s work has been presented in various locations and festivals in Montréal.

Thomasson developed an installation titled Mood Map, a visualization of a map of Montréal where tweets are pulled in real-time and run through a sentiment analysis algorithm.
