Efrén Mur is a Spanish digital artist and art director. He is a graduate of the Specialization in Traditional Animation at the School of Cinematography and Audiovisuals (ECAM) and obtained a Master in Digital Postproduction at the CICE School in Madrid. This formal artistic training has not been an obstacle to his constant interest in a self-taught and expeditious line of research.
Using digital technology as an expressive medium, his work comes to life in different formats and media such as installations, AV projects, and NFT works. In his creative process, he investigates the possibilities that image and sound give him as a means of expression, creating powerful and dynamic visuals. Since 2017, he lives in the city of Berlin, where he regularly works on joint audiovisual projects with artists from the techno scene. Since 2019 he collaborates with the Spanish record label Polegroup, accompanying his visuals in live performances and podcasts by artists such as Oscar Mulero, and Reeko, among others.
In 2020 he launched the A/V project A1E5 together with Ana Zaragoza (Dinamite). This artistic proposal combines experimental techno sound with digital art, designed to be exhibited in different formats. The work was released as an album and on DVD by the American Detroit Underground label, obtained an artistic residency at the Monom room (4DSOUND) of Funkhaus Berlin and was presented as an installation at the MAPA Contemporary Art Fair in Buenos Aires in 2022. Since 2021, he belongs to the staff of the Source Artists agency, this makes him one of the first visual artists added to the staff of DJs and producers in this German booking agency.
With more than two decades of uninterrupted career, Efrén Mur has done work for electronic music references such as: Jeff Mills, Richie Hawting, Surgeon, Jonas Kopp, Umwelt, Exium and Selección Natural, among others.
