Animistic Beliefs

As Animistic Beliefs, Linh Luu and Marvin Lalihatu turn the viscerality of the present and ancestral inspiration into an energetic ritual of gabber, techno and deconstructed club. In albums like MERDEKA (N.A.A.F.I. 2023) or powerful live acts at underground parties in Rotterdam and festivals like Dekmantel and MIRA, Animistic Beliefs exposes its roots in the pre-colonial cosmogonies of China and Vietnam from an irrepressible punk spirit, also present in the DIY hardware they develop for their presentations.
Animistic Beliefs is also the creative prism through which Linh and Marvin reflect on their existence beyond art, as two queer people of South Asian descent creating and resisting from Europe. The duo will perform for the first time in Latin America as part of MUTEK MX, which, we anticipate, will be one of the most cathartic and profound moments of Edition 20, as already happened with their presentation at MUTEK Montreal in 2023.
