Stephanie Castonguay & PRIFMA
<span class="not-set">(未設定)</span>
Fueled by D.I.Y. culture, self-taught Stephanie Castonguay has become a master of her craft by fine tuning her instruments, inviting us into her audiovisual universe. Her approach to sound and electronics is playful and organic: she disassembles and repurposes small, obsolete, barely audible machines to reveal the resonance, glitches and random sounds unexpectedly hidden within. An experimentalist at heart, Castonguay has conducted many performances in which she tested the different sonic outputs of her creations. She applies reactive systems that cause chemical reactions on her circuit boards, disrupting and shifting the sounds to new dimensions. She has performed in various festivals such as Sight & Sound, Ibrida Pluri, Instruments Make Play, STEIM, Tsonami Sound Art festival, MUTEK and beyond.
Light is at the core of PRIFMA’s practice, captured as the main subject in their world-building performances. Artists Mercedes Invernizzi and Laura Fuchs create a dialogue between analog and digital art: as light passes through translucent sculptures, it is displaced and set in motion, glitching and stretching across the projections. PRIFMA have presented their installations and visual performances at Fire House Session, Berlin art festival 48 hours Neukölln, London's Somerset House Studios, FAUNA (Festival Artístico de la Universidad de las Artes), The Wrong - New Digital Art Biennale, La Noche de los Museos and many other events.
