Ototo has been skulking around the shadows of the Montreal scene for over a decade. The duo of Dimitri and Filip produces music that relies upon rhythmic profundity and highlights the cultural references of the two protagonists. Strongly influenced by the German minimal current, particularly the work of Thomas Brinkmann, Ototo also evokes in passing the industrial period of experimental music– Throbbing Gristle, Coil, and Genesis P'orridge. Ototo's compositions are remarkable for their distinct ability to span epochs and properly assimilate these diverse influences.
