Coordinator, Social Media and Online Content

Mandate:

We are looking for an individual who is passionate about electronic music and digital art to assist with managing the online platforms for the MUTEK festival and the MUTEK_IMG professional forum. Both events will take place from September 8 to 13, 2020, in a hybrid virtual/physical format.
The MUTEK team works in a friendly and collaborative atmosphere where everyone’s voice is heard and appreciated. The successful candidate will work in tandem with the Digital Marketing Strategist and the Communities and Content Manager, within the communication-marketing team. You will be expected to attend production meetings. You will also receive support with learning and mastering tools and web platforms. Our priority is that you have a keen sense of responsibility and organization, creativity, initiative and curiosity. You will have the opportunity to discover how a world-class festival works and to take part in the different stages of its deployment. The internship is offered on a work-from-home basis.

Tasks and responsibilities:

- Prepare and publish social media content (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, SoundCloud, Pinterest), in collaboration with the communication team: track and adapt publications with respect to the schedule, write French-and English-language copy, research and suggest relevant images and content.
- Create and update website content: artist biographies, festival events, programming, news and current events, partner events, mentions and partner logos to be included in MUTEK’s CMS.
- Propose editorial content: text, audio and video about festival artists and IMG_Forum speakers.
- Carry out strategic intelligence tasks by following new technology trends, digital creativity innovations and news from the digital art and music industry, both locally and internationally.

Profile:

- Degree in Communication, Digital Media or Journalism
- Proficiency in English and French (written and spoken)
- In-depth knowledge and interest in social networks: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, SoundCloud, Spotify, LinkedIn
- Knowledge of collaborative working tools: Slack, Google Drive (Google doc and Google Sheet), Trello
- First-hand experience in managing online content, website administration, CMS or blog is an asset
- Strong interest in electronic music and digital creativity
- At ease with the specific rhythm of a festival and flexible to unexpected situations
- Autonomy, while having a collaborative team spirit

Length of contract and conditions:

Start: June-July 2020
Duration and schedule (2 options):
- 140 hrs - 3 credits; 9 weeks at 15 hrs per week
- 240 hrs - 6 credits; 12 weeks at 20 hrs per week

Communications Assistant

Mandate:

We are looking for a passionate individual to support the communications department. Tasks will include all aspects of promotion and outreach for the MUTEK festival and the Forum IMG, particularly in terms of tourism and audience development. The position will be adapted to your skills and strengths to ensure that you benefit from the experience as much as we do. Our priority is that you are proactive and able to work independently. The MUTEK communications team works in a friendly and collaborative atmosphere where everyone’s voice is heard and appreciated. You will have the opportunity to discover how a world-class festival works and to take part in the different stages of its deployment. In line with government regulations, the internship is offered on a work-from-home basis.

Tasks and responsibilities:

- Manage partnerships with local and student-led media: solicit, negotiate and draft contracts, monitor parties’ respect of contractual commitments.
- Promote the event to universities, CEGEPs and other specialized programs.
- Suggest and plan promotional actions both online and physically - respecting distancing measures - in order to reach new audiences. These could include temporary or pop-up events, targeted special offers, joint presentations, etc.
- Develop and monitor partnerships with local and international tourist organizations (transport, accommodation, gastronomy, any other relevant organizations).
- Update local and tourism-related online schedules.
- Update the daily press review (radio, television, print media, web) and the press list.
- Produce the report on promotional actions taken.

Profile:

- Degree in communication, marketing or tourism.
- Familiarity with Montréal: museums, festivals, universities, hotels, restaurants, etc.
- Strong interest in electronic music and digital arts, and in cultural activities generally.
- At ease with the specific rhythm of a festival and flexible to unexpected situations.
- Autonomy, while having a collaborative team spirit.
- Motivation to achieve goals; strong sense of initiative.
- High level of spoken and written French and English.
