Federico Lamas (Buenos Aires) is an independent visual artist (designer, filmmaker, illustrator and VJ). His works range from experimental videos, books, zines, VJ sets, posters, animation, video direction, and installations, among other pieces.

Federico continues to carry out artistic residencies around the world, in which he develops research around his work, among which we highlight: Hannover (Up and Coming), São Paulo (FAAP-Prince Klaus-Videobrasil), Mexico City (Pasagüero and Vértigo Galería) , Santa Cruz de la Sierra (Kiosko Gallery) and Québec City (La Bande video gallery).

Between 2019 and 2022 he was part of several interesting projects: a show after a period of residence at La Bande Video, Quebec City, he also competed for the 5th time in the Videobrasil Biennial in Sao Paulo (in which he won in 2 editions) and launched a new publication along with a video exhibition in Mexico and São Paulo. He presented a new VJ set at the MUTEK festival with music by Montreal artist RAMZi. This set was also presented at the closing of the CCRecoleta Biennial of Young Art, at the MAMBA and in collaboration with Axel Krygier at the CCMorán. He was also part of the video designer for the works “El Hombre que perdo su sombra”, Teatro Nacional Cervantes and the contemporary ballet “El Porvenir” at the Teatro General San Martín.

In 2022 he collaborates at the Colón theater again with the video design for “Carmen” by the Ballet Estable. At the CETC of the Teatro Colón he previously directed the monodrama “The Raven”, where he also designed the video and projections. In July 2022 he was a resident VJ in the jams of the Dialog cycle of the ARTLAB Cultural Center, with his illustration project with an optical effect “Infernal Vision”, where a red lens allows to reveal scenes and characters hidden in the illustrations; it is a “technology” because it is a concept-technique: the power to reveal moral and ethical issues and at the same time, inseparable, the pencil strokes next to the red viewfinder.

His last projects and exhibitions of Infernal Vision were: "Tell me something valuable" together with an animated video installation. This exhibition toured various destinations from the end of 2018 and throughout 2019: LUSTR festival (Prague), DRAWING ROOM fair (Lisbon), RV gallery (Salvador de Bahía, Brazil), La Bande Video (Québec City), CASA PLANA (São Paulo) and the latest publication of the same name launched in Gran Salón México.

"La Información", an exhibition curated for the ATOCHA gallery, was exhibited between 2020/21, a context in which the pandemic lockdown took us away from the events in the first person and presented them to us in their virtual and over-make-up version. In 2022, in addition to the Museum of Engraving exhibition where many unpublished pieces produced in the pandemic are on display, Federico is also presenting Infernal Vision in an exhibition at B23 space Berlin and at the Flekkefjord Street Art Festival in Norway.
