Scott Montheith's association with Pole's label ~Scape, on which he released his last album, is anything but accidental. The young Montreal prodigy known as Deadbeat shares Betke's fascination for the origins of dub. Transcending genres and influences, his recent projects feature an approach to dub that is a magical confluence of interacting elements: Jamaican influences are certainly present, but so are ethereal digital treatments generated with the latest software, such as programs by Applied Acoustics Systems where Montheith is employed.
