187 I Ben Nevile 900x670
February 27, 2019

MUTEKLIVE187 - Ben Nevile

Ben Nevile (CA)

Wednesday August 22, 2018 – Esplanade de la Place des Arts

Mastered by Pheek

Who: West Coast-raised, Montréal-based producer, composer, programmer and sound engineer Ben Nevile

Style: Fluid house beats, synth notes and groovy melodic euphorias

Labels: Logistic Records, Arbutus Records and TelegraphMore: Neville’s MUTEK roots run deep, having first performed at the event’s third edition in 2002. He returned to the festival’s esplanade stage with live renditions of classic cuts from his prolific 1998-2003 period, as well as brand spankin’ new treats fresh out the studio oven.

Ben Nevile makes detailed minimal techno drawn from sounds both natural and machine-made: altered bird calls and ocean waves weave around fluid house beats and synth notes of stand-alone styling. His suave, timeless, dub-charged sonic postcards—imagine a well-stocked selection of moody four-to-the-floor beats and groovy melodic euphorias—have triggered back-to-back epidemics of musical wanderlust for nearly two decades.
