“I try not to choose the easy path,” says rRoxymore, whose musical focus is right there in the margins of what is normal in club culture. The Montpellier native is less-so concerned about getting everything just right than she is about carving out space for exploration––the freedom to try out complex polyrhythms or unusually iridescent palettes that subvert the climax––and move on without looking back. The result is unusually expressive, setting out a map less interested in forward motion and more in favour of imaginative terrains. This need of rRoxymore’s, to develop a more human, idiosyncratic touch to what is usually synthetic, has been with her since her debut release Wheel of Fortune, a ten-minute epic that appeared on a 2012 split 12" with Planningtorock. A subsequent collaboration with Oni Ayhun, Aquarian Jugs, and Jaguar Woman caught Stefan Goldmann's ear, and her Tautologies EP went on to release through his Macro label. Her Organ Smith EP followed on Don't Be Afraid in 2016, and Thoughts of an Introvert, Pt. 1 in 2017. rRoxymore's track Tropicalcore was included on Ostgut Ton's Berghain 08 EP in 2018, and Thoughts of an Introvert, Pt. 2 was released the same year. The full-length Face to Phase album, perhaps her most recognized, arrived in 2019.

Hermione Frank’s music is made up of innate contrasts, and her artistic moniker itself is an anagram of “oxymoron” in French.
