Pascale Project is the stage name of Montréal DJ, producer, musician and singer Pascale Mercier. Born in the city of Québec, she first started playing the drums before turning to electronic music, at the age of 15. Active in Québec’s music scene since 2008, she left the capital in 2011 to settle in Montréal, where she quickly made a name for herself thanks to her energetic sets and performances in the city’s iconic clubs, namely Stereo, Datcha, SAT and Le Système, as well as festivals such as Piknic Electronik and Igloofest. Drawing from a range of influences including Chicago’s sounds, Eurodance, Acid techno, Synth-pop, Tech-house, Kraftwerk and Everything But The Girl, her releases on labels such as Planet Euphorique, Radiant Love and Orange Milk carry Pascale Project’s music and vocals beyond her local borders. In 2019, she founded the Your Approval Isn't Needed record label as a means to showcase her friends’ music, as the label name implies, without having to wait for anyone’s approval. Since its creation, there have been no less than 12 releases on her burgeoning local label. However, the launch of her Where’s The Party EP on Montréal label La Rama in 2021 hastened Mercier’s career; more requested and acclaimed than ever, in between gigs both at home and abroad, she’s putting the finishing touches on her next EP, Good People Only, set to be released on Craigie Knowes during the summer of 2023.
