Montréal-based musician Nick Schofield composes meditative and absorbing ambient works with analog synthesizers and a minimalist approach. Schofield holds a degree in Electroacoustic Studies from Concordia University and is deeply engaged with the Montréal music scene. He hosts the local CKUT show, Underground Sounds, and curates the POP Montréal Record fair. Schofield is also a frequent collaborator with artists across Canada, particularly on projects Saxsyndrum, Best Fern, and Rêves Sonores, who performed at MUTEK in 2018. He has been the artist-in-residence at the Banff Centre, has received mentorship from musician Radwan Ghazi Moumneh and has accompanied Wet’suwe’ten activist/singer Molly Wickham on stage. Schofield’s debut solo album Water Sines (2018) featured calm, patient synth figures, layered with effects and field recordings. On his second release, Glass Gallery, pares down to one synthesizer to produce expansive and mesmerizing mood pieces.
