Emissive is a conceptual project by electronic music DJ, producer and dance music promoter Evan Jamal Vincent. Based in Toronto, Canada, Vincent started writing and producing as a young teen. After a handful of trips to Detroit and living abroad in London, UK, the conceptual framework behind Emissive was born, inspired by both cities' thriving electronic music scenes. Named after the physics principle of emissivity, Vincent's music feels conductive and seeps under the skin, right into the muscles' tissues, all the way to the cells ; a warped 90s' intelligent dancefloor dream bathing in its iconic dreamy tones, but passed through the crisp, sophisticated filter of contemporary sound design, and an inventive approach to rhythms. Vincent’s most recent album, Unseen Measures, was released on New York label Aronia Records at the end of 2022. He is currently working on an original score for an independent short documentary and is finishing up an album of tracks made in collaboration with contemporaries from Toronto, Montréal and beyond. Vincent also works as a sound engineer, mixing, mastering, and is involved in a community arts centre as music programmer.
