Festival internacional de creatividad digital

Novi_sad is the work of Greek ambient constructivist Thanasis Kaproulias, a young figure in the sphere of architecturally driven electronic experimentation. His three releases thus far on the Touch and Staalplaat labels belie a sensibility ready to follow in the footsteps of 12k and Line luminaries such as Taylor Deupree and Richard Chartier, but with a deeper sincerity to the noir textures of soundtrack composers like Angelo Badalamenti.

His is a dark and delicate sound, molded of field recordings, at times clinical and at times vast. Though still an up-and-coming figure, Kaproulias has already collaborated with some deeply respected names in sound experimentation, among them Jacob Kirkegaard, Helge Sten of Deathprod and Supersilent, and Francisco Lopez.

Novi_sad’s performance at MUTEK_10 will be based on field recordings from the remote Swedish island of Gotland, Brazil’s tropical rain forests, as well as vibrations from New York’s Manhattan and Brooklyn bridges. The performance will take place in absolute darkness.
