Festival internacional de creatividad digital

[North American Debut] The performance of “5mm” is an audiovisual incarnation of the project/album Musique pour 3 Femmes Enceintes released on MUTEK_REC in 2005, in collaboration with ORAL.Invited last fall by the prestigious ARS ELECTRONICA to present his music, Marc Leclair (Akufen) thought to call on his Montreal affiliate Gabriel Coutu-Dumont to add a new dimension to the work, via his moving images. Essentially, the occasion spawned a bona fide connection between the two artists who discovered a multitude of complementary aspects among their styles.Marc Leclair is one of the premiere artists for which MUTEK has truly acted as a catalyst. Since his participation at the Festival in 2000, he has encountered enormous success through his many shows abroad and various well-received releases on a number of diverse labels. The release of the album My Way in 2002 on the Force Inc. label sold several thousand copies and helped cement him as one of the top-rated producers on the international electronic music scene. Since then, this composer, in a perpetual state of growth and discovery, has effectively diversified his activities.Gabriel Coutu-Dumont works as a photographer and video artist. His marked interests for scene conception, performance and the vast spectrum of digital creation have led him to co-found collectives such as RACAM, nAnalog et LuzaPixel. Blending tradition and technology, his designs allow for cohabitation between sound, image and lighting.Liberal adaptation of a project inspired by pregnancy, “5mm” will be making its North American premiere at MUTEK.
