North-West Passage at Insomnia Festival 2019: Jerico, RAMZi, Sabrina Ratté and Tim Hecker

North-West Passage is a new collaboration between Intonal, MUTEK Montréal, and Insomnia that aims to promote innovative artworks in the fields of digital art and electronic music.
The project takes form in an artist exchange where Norwegian and Swedish artists will perform at MUTEK Montréal and in return artists from Quebec will perform at Intonal and Insomnia:

Jerico QC/CA

Jerico is a 22-year-old Haitian-Canadian DJ, producer, and vocalist, who’s quickly being recognized as one of Montreal’s most promising young artists. From his solo productions to his memorable late-nite DJ sets at countless local warehouses, parties, and after-hours, his commitment to forward-thinking dancefloor heaters stands out in the city’s club scene.

RAMZi QC/CA

The mutant-polymorphic-spirit-child known only as RAMZi (CA) left its home of the deep forests and chose Phoebé Guillemot as its human host many moons past, tasking itself with the protection of wildlife, the decimation of its enemies and the conquest of new lands. RAMZi makes itself known to our world as a tropical music gradually emerging, bringing to Jazz Fusion a second wind and to Fourth World music a Fifth World sound. Stubborn and protective, RAMZi is also a wild child warrior who enjoys squeezing birds and hanging out with their fluffy animal companions.

Sabrina Ratté QC/CA

Experienced electronic musician Steve Hauschildt from Chicago teamed up with Sabrina Ratté, a Canadian visual artist who has received much acclaim for her groundbreaking, original visual art. Hauschildt & Ratté is a fresh collaboration, presenting to us a completely new audio-visual project.

Tim Hecker has spent the last decade inhabiting a unique intersection between noise, dissonance, and melody. In his varied and celebrated works, digital and organic sources tightly intertwine. The result is a hybrid aesthetic that recalls electronic abstraction and psychedelic American minimalism.
