International Festival of Digital Creativity and Electronic Music

The cymbal is the main attraction in this concert featuring drummer Kim Åge Furuhaug and Njål Paulsberg on synthesizers. The two artists are facing eachother, delving into the conceptual, rhythmic and instrumental properties of the cymbals, contorting and extracting the sound further through the digital and analogue synthesis.

SUPER HEAVY METAL is the solo project of drummer Kim Åge Furuhaug. His debut album “Music for cymbals” (2016) is an ode to Steve Reich’s “Music for pieces of wood”(1973) focusing the full sonic expression on sounds derived from the cymbals. He is now taking the project a step further with new album “Gong Splash Midi Midi” (coming in 2020). The first live presentation of the new material happened at this concert, presented by Ekko Festival – a festival for electronic and experimental sounds in Bergen.
