International Festival of Digital Creativity and Electronic Music

[CANADIAN DEBUT] Someone Else is Philadelphia's Sean O'Neal. Though he currently produces highly sought-after minimal techno – the man has over thirty remixes to his credit – back in 1994 he began making music in an altogether different venue, as a member of Flowchart, an electro-shoegazing outfit that belonged to Philadelphia's large space-rock community. By 1998, after repeated exposure to the music of Matthew Herbert, the Orb, and Plastikman, he decided to switch gears and try his hand at minimal techno. Along with micro-funk producer Jay Haze, he founded the Tuning Spork label, with the intention of producing dance music out of field recordings. To date, O'Neal has produced nearly twenty singles. This May, he will issue his first album as Someone Else, Pen Caps and Colored Pencils, on Miskate's Foundsound Records.
