International Festival of Digital Creativity and Electronic Music

Sendai is the collaborative project of longtime friends Yves De Mey and Peter Van Hoesen, two techno producers, composers and inventive digital manipulators who eagerly pursue the outer limits of the electronic spectrum. Brussels-based sound designer De Mey brings his experience in theatre, contemporary dance and film scoring to Sendai, skilfully unpacking deep, dynamic sounds from his modular synthesizer system. Berlin-based techno producer Van Hoesen, who founded heavy-hitting techno label Time To Express, and whose extensive production flair has yielded both bass-heavy techno and stripped-down, abstract electronica, brings his sense of adventurous composition and sound design to the project. After releasing two techno-minded EPs in 2009, their debut album Geotope takes a wholehearted plunge into the vast pool of experimentation – befriending extreme frequencies and glitchy sound design over deep techno.
