International Festival of Digital Creativity and Electronic Music

Brothers Ryan and Colin Dorward, aka Sharps and ColinMuir, grew up in Singapore, where they became enamoured of new technologies and electronic music, before eventually relocating to Vancouver. After working separately for ten years, the two teamed up to create Rixen Rockers. The result is an amalgam of minimal acid, retroglitch, IDM, new bass and breakbeat. Ryan handles the heavy grooves and the flow side of things – after a seven-year stint as a DJ, his prime focus is getting the crowd into it. He leaves the ambient, sonic and musical colourings to Colin, who has years of studio experience behind him. Live, Rixen Rockers’ material is constantly reworked and tweaked depending on the mood on any given night. The brothers perform with a pair of laptops and an impressive arsenal of old-school gear rejigged by Ryan, with the goal of delivering a dancefloor experience that runs the gamut from 1984 to 2014.
