Pursuit Grooves

American born, Toronto based Pursuit Grooves (Vanese Smith) has released numerous sonically adventurous projects on labels such as What Rules, Deepblak and Tectonic to name a few. Creating genre-bending soulful and bass-laden electronic music she has performed internationally at theaters and festivals as well as hosted workshops on creative sound sources and unique music production techniques. She is an alum of the Red Bull Music Academy (Barcelona edition) and holds a BA in Film from Vassar College. As a visual artist, she creates video art and graphic design as Mo:delicarts to complete her audiovisual narrative. She also co-runs the monthly producer event Loop Sessions Toronto. This live set is from her most recent album Bess, a tribute to the first Black American female pilot Bessie Coleman.
