International Festival of Digital Creativity and Electronic Music

Montreal’s finest remix merchants Megasoid are two names that should already be instantly recognizable to many fans of modern music: Sixtoo has a long history as a stealthy downtempo producer, while Hadji Bakara arrives via indie-rock favourites Wolf Parade. Together, they make an unlikely duo, but what joins them is a rather unhealthy obsession with bass-heavy, speaker-busting remixes of hip-hop, crunk, Baltimore breaks, and ragga tracks. Their remixes of the likes of Bangers & Cash and Dr. Dre blend aggressive drum programming and lush synths with the sheen of mainstream urban vocals. Megasoid are receiving serious attention from big names such as Ghislain Poirier, Modeselektor, Daedelus, and by the time they play this summer’s Mutek, they’ll be riding a wave of attention that should make them the most hotly tipped show in town.
