Now based in Montreal, Mike Baugh, alias Meek, began producing electronic music in Calgary, Alberta, in the mid-1990s. He first began experimenting with the genre when he began toying with a synthesizer his father had originally bought for the purpose of generating drum tracks to accompany himself on guitar. Over time, Baugh’s taste for envelope-pushing, genre-defying electronic music has grown. Trained in audio post-production and currently working as a videogame sound designer, he now has a more critical ear and brings more solid production values to the studio. Meek’s recent output finds him exploring minimal house territory, clearly dancefloor-oriented and boasting an absorbing sheen of melodic abstractions. He has thus far released four discs independently, and has also had tracks included in compilations on the Fatrasie, Worm Interface, Six Records, Meson Octet, NFB/Cocosolidciti and Mutek_rec imprints.
