International Festival of Digital Creativity and Electronic Music

Hailing from the United States but living in Italy for several years, John Duncan is a complete artist who, throughout his career, has uncompromisingly explored the possibilities of numerous mediums: performances, films, music, and installations. He perceives his work as a kind of catalyst, inducing a transmission of energy through which he incites the public to actively participate in a research and discovery process. His recordings, among them The Crackling (1996, with Max Springer), Phantom Broadcast (2002), Infrasound-Tidal (2003) and more recently Stun Shelter (avec Carl Michael von Hausswolff) or Presence (with Graham Lewis of Wire), are considered by informed critics as well as his peers in the industry to be important landmarks in the history of experimental music. His sonic installations and his performances are renowned for never leaving anyone indifferent. Taking the most experimental elements of MUTEK's programming and adding them to a temporary continuum which began long before electronic music became a recognizable genre, Duncan's MUTEK performance promises to be intense and all-encompassing. Performing in an environment of eight loudspeakers, exacerbated by a massive amplification system of the highest quality, he'll be dexterously broadcasting his sound with recent, unedited pieces from his repertoire. An immense performance and a rare visit from a legendary artist of the realm of extremes!
