International Festival of Digital Creativity and Electronic Music

North American DebutIt did not take long for Rajko Muller (Isolée) to gain respect-and to make pseudonym (French for 'isolated') into something of a misnomer. From his first album, Rest, which appeared in 2000 on the Playhouse label, and carried by the success of the hit Beau Mot Plage, he succeeded in obtaining mass approval for a genuine type of music that reconciled the public and all listening contexts. Isolée's tech-house sound is as weighty as it is danceable; it is as light as it is dense. Must one look behind the apparent paradox at the biography of its initiator: a Stuttgart-based musician, having grown up under Algerian skies, who defines his music as 'a residue of pop?' Perhaps. With their complex structures, his pieces disorient but never fail to coalesce-that is to say they are prone to shake-ups...on the dance floor. Armed with a grab bag of synthesizers and a computer, Muller will unleash his irresistible, summery twilight breeze tonight. This visit is one of Isolée's rare performances as well as his North American debut.
