International Festival of Digital Creativity and Electronic Music

After more than 10 years of producing electronic music under the influence of Electronic Body Music (EBM), having launched his career in 1991, recording for the SPV label, Germany's Guido Schneider radically changed direction, embarking upon the revelatory trajectory he follows today. Closing down his own label, Neue Welte, and entering into collaboration with the vocalist Florian Schimacher, Guido and his singer immersed themselves like a couple of sih in the waters of the darkly refined label Poker Flat, releasing the Silver Surfer album in 2002—acclaimed by fellow producers and afficionados of the most sophisticated dancefloors. After another project with Schimacher under the pseudonym Glowing Glisses, Schneider embarked upon his own solo ventures for Poker Flat, finding himself among the top ranks of the label. His sound is marked by a precise minimalism that nevertheless toasts the populist traditions of electronic dance music. A successful 2004 world tour with Poker Flat owner Steve Bug helped raise Schneider's profile, as have his collaborations with artists like Sammy Dee of Pantytec and his many respected tracks and remixes for Poker Flat, many of which have been included upon mix compilations (including Richie Hawtin's recent mammoth, DE9: Transitions). At MUTEK Schneider presents a live interpretation of his new album Focus On: Guido Schneider, which is a revelation for all those eager fans of the complex synthesis of rhythm and melody in techno.
