Elina Waage Mikalsen is a multidisciplinary artist and musician from Tromsø, Sápmi/Norway. She is currently based in Oslo, Norway, working within the fields of sound, video, performance, installation and text-based mediums. Her core source of material is the body, in its physical, remembering, sounding and acting capacity. She explores the woman’s body in particular, most notably in her sound work, where the possibilities and limitations of the female voice is explored in a physical, historical and gendered context. Elina Waage Mikalsen’s artistic work often draws inspiration from her dual background as Sámi and Norwegian.
Ingrid Kristensen Bjørnaali is an artist from Kristiansand based in Oslo, Norway. She mainly works with video art and VJ’ing. In her video practice, she captures virtual and physical landscapes via various camera technologies and softwares, exploring how people might relate to and interact with places, non-places, physical objects and their digital representations. How seeing the world through camera based translations affect our worldview and our approach towards a surrounding environment is the focus of her explorations.
For the concert in the Arctic Cathedral, Elina will perform the premiere of her latest release, the sound work Rođu Govkkit/Glenner i Vier together with Ingrid's visual explorations that consist of a combination of photogrammetry scans and video footage of an area with protected forest in the outskirts of Oslo.
