International Festival of Digital Creativity and Electronic Music

CANADIAN PREMIERE

One-time creative director of the Colorado-based Communikey events collective (which now includes the annual three-year-old festival), Thomas Kamholz knows his way around the American electronic music scene. Operating under various monikers – Barnacle, Ghost Pirates, The Subterraneans – his productions span a spectrum of contemporary electronic sounds that includes dub, techno, minimal and ambient. Attentat, which has been Kamholz’s main concern for the last ten years, leans toward the minimal and murky ends of techno, featuring plenty of disorienting low-end twists. Like his friends at Wolf+Lamb in Brooklyn, he’s a producer who embraces digital DJing and production and the whole new set of practices made possible with software like Ableton Live. He’s also actively cultivating and designing new and sophisticated dance environments; he’s behind Make Mistakes, a monthly event that intends to further enliven the Denver techno community.
