International Festival of Digital Creativity and Electronic Music

[CANADIAN PREMIERE]

Along with 2007 MUTEK performer Shackleton , Appleblim was one of the founders behind the seminal yet short-lived label Skull Disco , which heralded a distinctly dark and brooding version of dubstep that helped breed connections between the UK bass community and the minimal techno scene of Berlin. Since Skull Disco’s demise, Laurie Osborne has moved on to found the Applepips imprint, which has become home to dubstep mutations that bring a more minimal, dancefloor-oriented flare to the genre.

A resident DJ at London’s famed FFWD>> dubstep nights, Osborne has had his finger on the pulse of bass music for numerous years, and so his presence at MUTEK_10 will offer an exclusive insider’s view of this fast-moving addition to the electronic scene, from one of its most active participants.
