Connecting Cities - The Participatory City
The Participatory City is the 2014 work theme of the Connecting Cities Network. Exploring the benefits of citizens’ participation in urban media artworks, the network is currently producing 11 artworks to be presented in Berlin, Madrid, Helsinki, Liverpool, Linz, Brussels, and Sao Paulo.
The idea of participation in urban spaces comes with a whole series of questions and topics, some of which this panel aims to address, including: new interfaces for human interaction and the role of play in encouraging participation / shared creativity and local community building and possibilities for civic activism in this augmented urban space.
