(2004-06-06) FINALE SAT

Société des arts technologiques [SAT]

The program for the final night of MUTEK is, as expected, filled with surprises. A singular and progressive course with different musical offerings, all of which contain a common denominator: quality and intensity. After a nuanced from Loscil, who proposes an invasion of ultra-minimalist electronic dub recalling at times the ambient period of Brian Eno, the path is freed for one of the larger moments of the festival. Enter Burnt Friedman and Jaki Liebezeit, drummer of the legendary German group CAN, who deliver their sophisticated electro-jazz-fusion assisted by experienced musicians. American Geoff White then delivers a new act from his repertoire, characterized by delicate melodic explorations of digitally treated guitar sounds. The night drifts into a different plane, more playful and defiant, with Montreal’s The Mole, who’ll have the task of progressively warming the spirits in order to prepare us for the grand finale explosion… the eccentric and extraordinary Jamie Lidell, veritable beast of reinvented funk, infused with a digital flavour.
